Dream Weaver

I was commissioned to make this work for the launch of Sydney based fashion label "Trois" in 2010. The collection was inspired by traditional Navajo design and dress. In comparison to the sophistication and modularity of the garments on show, these dream catchers reference a more brutal history and the subsequent commodification of tribal culture without recourse to blame or solution. They act as crudely sacred objects that have captured grotesque, nightmarish realities yet still retain an element of beauty.
