Cockatoo Memories
‘Cockatoo Memories’ is an exploration of Cockatoo Island’s visual past through textile installation. Using current ideas surrounding urban decay, these installations bring the beauty of decay into the obvious and evoke memory in movement. Themes of maritime structures are juxtaposed against the organic patterns of urban decay and the formation of rust patterning. The movement of the sails within the guardhouse and the form of the vessel evoke memories of past occupants and intervene on the viewer’s current thought processes.
