Artist Statement

Trish Hodgson is a multi-disciplinary designer whose work has strong conceptual underpinnings, drawing on local history, architecture, human markings both on the body and objects created by it.

Working across a range of design disciplines throughout her studies, from jewellery to graphics, Trish’s natural flair for surface design, pattern repetition and detail are best expressed through textiles. She utilises her wealth of skills in experimental combinations e.g. digitally manipulating organic patterns created through natural dyeing processes.

Trish balances the roles of artist and designer in works that explore conceptual themes about the body, its surrounding environment and the intellect.
