As an avid collector of second-hand kitsch, I have painted my collection of inexpensive Kashmiri paper mache boxes, imitating the mediums used to embellish the objects themselves including gold paint, crackle medium and lacquer, as a way of elevating craft to fine art and highlighting unappreciated beauty.
