"Alien Nation" one of three, acrylic on canvas
Inspired by my collection of kitsch tourist scarves, this series illustrates reconciliation of identity from my perspective as an Australian-born Laotian. By depicting my interpretation of selfhood and parodying cultural stereotypes, my aim is to emphasise the subjectivity of cultural experience and how cultural voids create new manifestations of identity.
