Artist Statement

My practice deals with time, movement and temporal and spatial distortion, with also an interest in surreal portraiture and long-exposure. The subjects in my photographs are blurred presences, contradictory and metamorphic forms that appear to be both energy and matter, moving and still. Some long exposure photographs can look unresolved or incomplete; it is this notion of the picture being suspended in the continual process of becoming that is central to my art-making. My work hopes to encourage people to consider the experience of time not as interchangeable, but also to see and reflect on life as uncontrolled and unpredictable.
