Artist Statement

My current artwork strives to link Dyslexia with talent. Dyslexia is generally defined as a neurological disorder that involves difficulties in learning to read or interpret words, letters and other symbols. My intention in my Honours research paper and studio practice is to reiterate Dyslexia’s overlooked competencies and promote their therapeutic value.

Using Etching, Collograph and Screenprint, my prints explore Dyslexia’s clinical and functional characteristics as a mode of creativity. They are interactive visual models that provide accurate perceptions of the condition. The images are produced from text using a free-ware soft-ware computer program called Textorizer.
