Artist Statement

I am interested in the perverse side of human nature. My works explore social and political themes through traditional modes of painting and drawing. I aim to provoke new inquiry and insight the reconsideration of previous conceptions.

I believe drawing and painting have a more privileged power to resonate with audiences than a snapshot photograph, due to the personal mark produced by the artist’s hand. My current practice involves a continued line of enquiry through portraiture, manipulating space, presence and absence and creating visual meaning through the constructed image.
